    Default Only Show Sub Catergories

First off the question should be : Should I do it ?

to give you some background , I am creating a site that will have 5 main categories , I am using the Tabs to get to these , once in the chosen Cat I would like the categories box to only show the next level of Sub Categories for that Top level Category.

Do you think this would go against ease of use ? or would it make it easier ?

If so , can someone point me in the right direction to start hiding the top level cats on demand.

Thanks for any input on the subject.

Might be easier to use the blank sidebox to show the subcategory links.

Yeah can you explain a little I am interested in doing something different with my category menu. What I am interested in doing is having actual links like HOME, Contact us, and so forth then to have like a link for Products which once clicked it comes down and shows the subcategory which has for example DIPS, CHILI, and so forth. Then once these are clicked it takes you to the category view of those products. I put on the expanded category display and it shows EVERYTHING which i don't like. I would like the products not to be displayed on the menu and I would only like the subcategories to be displayed when clicked. Is this possible? What can i do to make this happen. A link i like is here...

I actually got this done in the end with help from someone on another thread . I will find the link somewhere.

In the end I have it so that the top level cats show on home page and also on the Tab bar . once you click on one of these top levels the categories change to only show the sub levels . PM or e-mail me and I will send you the links as its not live yet.
