Help on changing language on already installed zencart

Hi,

I have already installed Zen cart ,ver 1.3.8 and its so far working fine.The client told me to have an option of French language as well.I downloaded the French language pack ver 1.3.8 by damien from language packs in zen cart.

The thing is that everything went fine except with the categories and some menus(i added).I think it may due to the datas coming from the database.When i looked into the language pack there was a folder named zc_install which may be for a fresh install.Iam really upset.I have no idea what to do now.Do i have to start the installations all over again.Please help...................

You don't need the zc_install portion of the language pack if you're not doing a new install.

When you install a language pack, it only provides translations for the text that's stored in the language files. *YOU* have to manually translate every product name, product description, category name, category description, etc to suit the needs of your site. It is probably displaying everything in english as a courtesy so that there's at least "something" there instead of nothing.

Also keep in mind that language packs are produced by individual shop owners who sometimes choose to share their work back with the public Zen Cart community. The translations are only as thorough/complete as that shopowner chose to make them. Some things may have been missed. Some may have been translated incorrectly. It's up to you to make sure it's correct enough for *your* site.

Bonjour, I've been looking for information about installing language packs, and I found this post ... I'd like my site to be in French and English, and if I understand you correctly, I would install all of the French language pack except the zc_install folder? do I install it in the same place as Zen Cart? I do understand that it's up to me to do the product info in French ... (actually, this is the fourth version of my web site in ten years - I've gone from a custom admin set-up to Zen Cart, where I believe that I will able to get it all done myself, so I know how a dual-language site works - I'm just unclear about the exact steps I need to take to get the right files in the right place).
