You could go to admin / tools / developers tool / and enter that phrase to see where it is.

its not in my cart.. but a number of people have mentioned (as does the zen cart tutorial) that there is a "mixed attributes" button, or a way to have multiple products that share the same attributes work togehter towards the quantity discount.
in the tutorial and faqs, it talks about "mixed on" and "mixed off" status... and another zenner talked about how he'd activated "mixed attributes". what ARE these things and where are they?

What you're looking for is in the product price manager screen. You have to add a (native) Quantity Discount to see this.
