Default Changing Main Wrapper for % to pixels

    Hi!

I'm trying to widen my template to fill the entire screen, I'm using the classic green template.

I read that if I go to template_default stylesheet and change the #MainWrapper from 100% to 750 pixels it would widen the template. I tried 750 pxls, 950 & 1100.............I see no change. Can someone please tell me what I've done wrong and what the correct pixel # would be for the template to fill the whole screen.

    Thank You
    Jen

It's the other way around. Setting the main wrapper to pixels fixels the width. If you want your site to fill the whole screen your should set it to 100%.

Normally it would be easy to peek at your site and see why this isn't working for you, but as you are keeping it a secret, that's not possible at the moment.

First off, you need to investigate the override system before you dig yourself deeper into a hole.

Currently, the classic template is not css based and will have a major change in the future. Anything you do with it now will be wiped out at upgrade.

You should be basing any work on the files currently under /includes/templates/template_default.

There is an Overrides Chart in the downloads section and information in the "How do I create..." Section of the tutorials.

Once you get to a custom template with only one stylesheet for the pages, changing site width is a snap.

Sorry to rain on your parade but, "been there, done that, got the shirt AND cap."

IF you are using Kuroi's Classic Contemporary Green versus the classic installed with basic Zen, you're already using a custom template.

Sorry.............didn't think to include the address. http://www.BusyBeesHive.com to be honest I'm not sure which template it is. Orginially it was set to 100% but I made the change because it was not the width of the screen.

    I appreciate your help.

Changing line 185 of your includes/templates/classic/css/stylesheet.css to have width:100% would cause your site to expand to full width. But this comes with two "BUT"s ...

Firstly, it's important to follow-up on the points that dbltoe made above, otherwise you changes may be lost when you upgrade.

Secondly, I recommend taking a look at the results on a big screen before getting too far into your design. Designing full width layouts that work on the increasingly wide range of screen resolutions is becoming increasingly difficult to do well.
