Default Setting order status: Downloadable objects

I am trying to set the ZC to automatically allow the download link email to process without my approval.

I found default settings of "pending" for the test item which is Free. In the "pending" case, the email gets sent that the order is pending, once I upgrade the order status to "processing", an email goes out with the download link where they can click and see their invoice, then DL.

My assumption was that if I set the default to "processing", it would be in an auto mode. Not the case though as it sends the email "processing" status, but I then have to go to orders and upgrade the status to "shipped" to force a downloadable link in the mail.

What setting can be changed to avoid manually approval?

    Thanks

The Orders status does control the release of the Downloads ...

Using either Processing (orders_status 2) or Delivered (orders_status 3) will release the Download immediately ...

If you only offer Downloads, then Delivered is fine ...

However, if you offer a mix of Downloads and Physical products for shipping then you would want Processing (orders_status 2) ...

You could also customize the code in the orders class so that when only Downloads are in the order then it would use something else, such as Delivered (orders_status 3) ... there is not, however, an override for the classes and this would take a bit of thought to customize, but it could be done ...

Thanks Linda, but could you please tell me where you are making those settings?

I made these settings for the 3 Paypal payment options, but see no method to do what you suggest on my free test products.

    Thanks

OK I turned on the XC Free Charger which was off, and set it to Processing.

I assume from your response that there is no system in place to auto release the download? This seems really awkward to me if that is the case.

That is what I just said, more or less ...

The Download is managed by the Orders Status ... but that is applied by the Payment module setting and applied to the whole order ...

To manage the Downloads separate from the rest of the order you would need customization to be done to determin when to switch to yet another Orders Status because all that is there are Downloads or that there is a mixed order ...

    Ok Thanks for the clarification.

All I have are downloads, software, spoken word etc. Without auto things would be very distracting having t6o manually deal with it. I am looking at having a script read the emails and go back in and approve, but that is not looking good.

I could afford a small amount on Paypal if they could show me a work around or write a solution for an auto mode for both free stuff and Paypal payment automatic delivery of DL links.

    Thanks

Yes, I only offer Software (Zip) and mp3 (Zip), nothing else.

Some for free as samples, most for Paypal website payment pro processing.

In either case whether free or paid, I want hands off processing.

Why can't you then just set the Payment Modules to Delivered and be done with it?

That would allow them for immediate release and complete the order ...

Ok that works great! Obviously I misunderstood your post earlier to say that such an auto mode or release would require customization.

    Problem solved.

    Thanks!
