1 Attribute dropdown question. Detailed thread!

Hi all!
First a lil background info. My company makes and designs custom golf grips. We wrap, what is essentially, a bumper sticker around the club shaft. We then slide a clear golf grip over the stickered shaft. We have a ton of stock labels (1,000's) that we need to upload asap. I've been doing it all by hand so far, I have a feeling there is a tool that can expediate this process, no? (which is best? )

BUT my main question is: We have 10 different clear golf grip styles that we install/sell. I've set up the attribute as a dropdown called 'Grip Style' with 10 separate values as the names of the grips, Pistol, Paddle, Wrap, etc..
Is there a way to just add the attribute to each product? Because so far all I've been able to do is go to edit a product under attribute controller and then add the grip style dropdown but it will only add 1 value from my dropdown thus turning it into a radio button... all I want is a dropdown of which gripstyle the customer wants on each of the product design pages but it's turned out to be a headache.. any pointers?

I referred to this FAQ/Tutorial when setting up the attribute.

so you have one attribute to add to a lot of products?
the only way it changes from a radio to a drop down is if you have more than one attribute listed.


if you want to add the attribute(s) to a few products you have to go up to the "attributes controller", find a product that already has the attribute, either click on the "copy attribute to product" or "copy attribute to category" button and (i choose this) click on "ignore and only add new attributes" button, then "copy" button.
ive done this alot of times and it saves me time and trouble.

Next question: Is there a way to link the bolded text (name of the attribute on the product page) i.e.

Grip Style: [drop down menu]

to an image or page? i.e. our grip info page with images and info about each grip in case they got that far in the ordering process and had no idea what grip style to choose? or perhaps just add a link to every product page instead of copy and pasting it into every item's info/details?

if all else i would make a few pages showing the different grips and the descriptions and add them to the top of the page or where ever you have room. that way once people get on the website they can look before ordering?

This is true I was just really hoping to have a little popup or image that could be placed on each page automatically. I do have a grip info page, but just for convenience sake. Anyone have any ideas?
