Default AustPost Improved - not showing

    Hi,

I have just installed the Austpost Improved module however it doesn't seem to be working.

    1.
The file "/includes/templates/CUSTOM/templates/tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php" isn't in the file when downloaded (although it says this isn't required for functionality, just for looks)

    2. After uploading all the files etc that are in the zip file, I go to Modules => Shipping, and the Austpost Module isn't listed.

Has anyone had this issue or does someone have the complete file list they can send to me?

    Thanks

    Michael

ps. I searched the forum but only issues I could find were from those who had it installed

Something has apparently messed up during your installation.
A complete filelist is included in the zip archive. I find it impossible to imagine that any of them are missing from the distribution archive, which leads me to suspect that you probably had an error during the upload of the files.

    Try uploading again.

Also, I trust you are aware that the directory designated as "CUSTOM" doesn't actually exist. This directory needs to be renamed to match your own installation.

If you don't have a 'CUSTOM' directory I strongly suggest you spend a wee bit more time playing with some of the more fun aspects of zencart before worrying about such mundane things as the shipping modules. The experience you'll gain from changing themes and customising the look of your store will go a LONG way towards helping you understand where and why you might be having problems with the AP module.

    Cheers

help question Re: AustPost Improved - not showing

Hi, I'm only new here and cannot for the life of me find where to start a new post (it's probably very obvious though!) so I'm just hijacking this one - sorry.

I have installed Zen Cart through fantastico and all's well (all's well that I only had to press 1 button and it was all done lol).

I have downloaded the AustPost module but I have no idea how to install it. I have printed out the instructions in the in the install.txt (?) file but I don't understand them at all. I have searched the forums and google looking for a step by step guide but cannot find any.

Can someone direct to me to somewhere that can help or can someone here help, but like I said I really need step by step instructions.

I thought I had it done when I transfered the files via ftp but when I went into the zencart shipping modules it wasn't there to install. Maybe I transferred the files in the wrong folder on the server? I have no idea.

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction before calling my webhost again.

    Cheers
    Anna

Actually, you don't need more instructions, you need a little more time playing and experimenting with some of zencarts' many capabilities, and there are much more fun things for you to do before moving on to the boring stuff like postage modules.

For example: Try playing around with the themes and other more useful add-ons.
These will prepare you for some of the more complex things such as postage.

I agree with you. You probably transferred the files into the wrong folder, or perhaps the FTP failed for some reason or another.

There really is no magic trickery to getting this module going. If the files are uploaded to the correct places it WILL show up under your admin/shipping settings.

    Cheers

    Hi Rod,

Thanks for your response however it doesn't seem to have helped either of us. I have played with zencart in the past as I used to use it for a clothing site I had. The issue here is that I have uploaded all the files into where they are instructed to be however the option of austpost does not appear under the shipping modules. I have double and triple checked that all files have uploaded and even uploaded each file one at a time.

Confirmed that all files have been uploaded into where they are supposed to be but it still doesn't show.

    Any other suggestions?

    have found the issue.

Instructions say to upload in the same file structure of the zip file however the files that are supposed to go into the public_html (and relevant folders within) are in a folder called catalog.

So upload the admin files into the admin folder and the files etc within the catalog folder get uploaded into the public_html folder

The instructions are correct. It is your understanding of them (and zencart) that is amiss.

I *know* that *you* would probably like the instructions to read "public_html" rather than "catalog", but just as "CUSTOM" refers to your own custom directory name, "catalog" refers to the root directory of the store. In your case this is apparently just "public_html", but for other people it may be "www", "webroot", "public_html/store/", "public_html/zencart/" or any one of many other server or user defined possibilities.

The use of the terms "catalog" and "CUSTOM" are the accepted standard definitions for almost every zencart module that I've seen and installed, and that is why I ALWAYS tell people to have a good play with with the fun side of zencart BEFORE playing with the dull stuff like the shipping modules. Those that do this never seem to have a problem installing the AP module because the experience gained means they avoid these simple problems.

Anyway, bottom line... Although you triple checked things, the problem, as I originally suggested was that the files were not uploaded to the right place. Others please take note. There is no magic trickery required to get the AP module working. IF the files are uploaded to the correct place it WILL work.

    Cheers

no offence Rod however I find your response to be quite rude. If the directions were more clear (eg mention that "catalog" refers to where you have installed zencart) then perhaps simpletons like myself would not need to ask what you see as such a basic question that we obviously should know the answer to.

FYI some of us do not have time to "have a good play with with the fun side of zencart BEFORE playing with the dull stuff like the shipping modules." For some of us the shipping modules etc are a required part of zencart so we can get our sites up and running as quick as possible

You took the words right out of my mouth Michael. I have found this forum and the abovementioned no help at all and am currently waiting on my webhost to get back to me so I can ask him very nicely if he can do it for me lol

I have uploaded the downloaded file via ftp and thats where I am still stuck. But you seem to have it all worked out now.

    Cheers
    Anna
