Max quantity by attribute

I sell fabric by the 1/2 meter and by the meter using the attributes controller. I have quantity discounts controlling purchases of 2 meters or more, however if the user tried to purchase 2x 1/2 meters (using the drop down selection created in the attribute controller) this also qualifies them for the discount, which I don't want.

Does anyone know how I can put a maximum that any customer is allowed to purchase of a particular attribute. I tried using the price controller, but that controls the whole item not the attributes.

What I don't want is for customers to buy 2x 1/2 meters and access the discount, if I could limit the number of 1/2 meters they can buy per product to 1, then this should eliminate the problem.

I would prefer not to have to seperate the products into 1/2 meter items and 1 meters items, as its far more work to maintain.

Do you have the 2 sizes together as they are really 1 product? Or, are you trying to have a way to order .5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 etc. etc. etc.?

Sorry not sure what you mean, "Gzip" isn't that for file compression? or are you trying to tell me there is something wrong with my site :-)

Basically they can only order a 1/2 meter and then 1, 2, 3 ... etc meters.

Yes it is one product, just different measure. So if possible I would like customers to be able to choose the different measure options via the attributes, so save listing more of the same product, with just different measure. I hope that makes sense.
