Hi, I am looking at a template from TM, but it says works with 1.36 only. Will this template work with 1.38? I know it might seem dumb, but I don't know if any updates between the two affect template compatibility.
Advice appreciated

If you search this Forum for 'TemplateMonster' you will see many threads about people who had problems with their Zen Cart Templates - for any version.
Not saying don't buy one but rather, if you do then be prepared to pay someone (a few hundred dollars or more) to correct their coding so it will work properly.

TM have a demo fo the template on zencart and it appears to be working fine. problem is i can't tell what version is being run .
Ah well.
it might apear to be running fine,
try throwing a few switches,
you try to turn things off or on and the layout breaks,
or worse there is NO functionality there since TM totally removed the code,

I have a Ferrari parked in my driveway - only that it's not really a Ferrari but a Ford Fiesta that I covered with a cardboard ############## of a Ferrari...
Same with TM - looks like a Ferrari - behaves like Ford Fiesta. (A Ford Fiesta without an engine, by the way...)
... you mean like the fake ferarri
TM looks good on the surface. The critical part of e-commerce software is the part no-one sees - its back-office functionality, which is critical to having all the components working seamlessly together. TM templates are noted for their badly constructed code, which is done to make the site LOOK good on screen - but has the effect of messing up core (and vitally important) functions in the background.
