What's new sidebox has disappeared!

I have just noticed that my what's new scrolling sidebox has disappeared together with the "New products for July" box on my main page! They are both turned on in my admin but they're not showing up. Have tried reinstalling the original files in my ovveride system but nothing, still the same. I've been editing some of my product descriptions and meta tag definings these days but don't know if this is something that might have caused the problem.

Now, for solving... I've been thinking of restoring my database backup, the last one was made on june 30, but I know that I'll loose all the editings I've made in these 2 days. A full backup of my files was made on july 1 though... is it possible to restore my last database backup and then restore some files for the product description and metatag changes I've made?

Well being that the last product added to your catalog was at the end of june, you probably have admin>configuration>maximum values>New Product Listing - Limited to ... set to 1. Which would be setting it to current month and since you haven't added anything so far this month....
