Whoops - urgent - how do I set up a redirect from one product to another?

Can anyone help,

I accidentally deleted a product.... the page had external links going to it and had some pr.

So i copied the google cached text and put the product back up on the site no problem i thinks... but the url is different as it has a different product id.

I use SEO urls and have tried a 301 redirect in my htaccess but it doesnt seem to work.

Any ideas how to redirect the old url to the new one?

Yes that is what I had done as above but because of the seo urls it doesnt seem to work?

You can go in and change the product id, I believe via admin panel -> catalog or is it product attributes.

Hi there, thanks for the reply, I cant find that, and have searched the forums and google and cant find any referernce to this? You can add a product number to the product but not change the # in the url?

you are correct. once deleted you cannot change the item id. rats.
