Trying to add a div wrapper to a section

Hey guys,
I'm new to this thing and here (hi) and am just designing my shop. So far it's coming off pretty well but I seem to be stuck on something. On the product list, I'm trying to make a div wrapper for it so I can color my product list color separately from the background color. The most logical places I could think of to do this was either in the style sheet (only problem is the center column property colors the entire center column where as I only need a certain section like if I were just coloring the new products wrapper), or one of the PHP scripts. I searched through Mainpage and ProductInfo, but couldn't seem to find a place to put the div tag, or at least in a place that works. I'm still relatively new to PHP script reading but I can get around ok. Can anyone help me with this?

Well I figured out one out of two of them using a different method (though I did check out the link and did give me some info so thanks). Now I'm trying to find where the Category Description scrip is? I need to create a div tag around the content in there as noted in the image below. Basically, a div tag around the spot circled:
