Possible to import only customer data into a new install

I'm considering some pretty dramatic changes to the catalog of our webstore, which is now a few versions behind the times (1.3.5). I was wondering if it would be possible for me to get the new store setup in a test environment (including the new catalog and template files) and then simply move over the customers from the old store.

Any hope this would work?

You can import as much or as little as you need BUT insure that you know all the tables associated with each as there are several for customers & their data

Thanks for jumping in to answer my question (again!). From a previous posting, I know that the tables which involve customers include:

address
customers
customers basket
customers_basket_attributes
customers_wishlist
files_uploaded
orders
products_notifications
reviews

I've been wondering what would happen in tables like customers_wishlist, orders, products_notifications, and reviews if they are linked to items which are no longer in the catalog (or if they are, the item number is different).

I would not import anything that will present conflict

So could I get by with just address and customers?

This is what I would do BUT all order linkage and for orders need the products associated with the order etc etc will not be present as long as you know this
