Adding products and images issue

I am having issues when adding images and products into categories. I can add categories but when I try to add an image to the category it says image not found even though the image is in images/categories. The real kicker is when I try to add a product to a category it allows me to without images and when I click the category that has a product in it the entire site/page goes solid bg color. This is on a local OSX machine for testing, I am very confused

Wow, ran the debugging utility and found one of the issues... however I still cannot attach an image to the product. Please help.
