merging oscommerce with zencart???

I installed oscommerce as it was the one available from my provider at the time. I now have a raft of customers which I would like to keep. However oscommerce has its limitations, and I have been recommended Zencart. Zencart has just the essentials I am looking for - coupons, gift vouchers, and html newsletter capability. Oscommerce has none of these. I have been told that some people have managed to merge oscommerce and zencart with varying degrees of success. Is it possible to install the coupons on an existing oscommerce site? The only reason I would rather merge the two rather than start with a clean one is I have a number of customers in the database I want to keep hold of! I wish so much I had installed zencart instead first!
