    Default cURL Problems

Had a search on the site but couldn't find an answer to this.

    Am a newcomer to ZenCart and am installing it to a Unix server(Apache/2.2.9 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.9 OpenSSL/0.9.7a mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 PHP/5.2.6 mod_perl/2.0.4 Perl/v5.8.8)

Have uploaded the latest 1.38a ZenCart files and am running the ZenCart setup (after altering config files as per instructions) . . . when i get to the prerequisites page, I get the following:

    * CURL requires SSL support. Please notify webmaster or hosting company. 6 => name lookup timed out more info...
    * CURL problems detected: 5 => name lookup timed out more info...
    * CURL requires SSL support. Please notify webmaster or hosting company. 7 => couldn't connect to host more info...

Now, my hosting company tell me that cURL is loaded and running and this is what is on the server:

    cURL support enabled
    cURL Information libcurl/7.18.2 OpenSSL/0.9.7a zlib/1.2.1.2 libidn/0.5.6

Any ideas what's going wrong or not working or not configured correctly???

    Cheers

    Chris

As the error message says, tell your host that their CURL setup is failing to do NS lookups properly. "name lookup timed out" ... that error is coming directly from PHP when it tries a CURL request.

Then I guess your host doesn't want you running ecommerce on their server. Find another host.

If that hosting company's view of security is to disable a crucial system function, then their business model does not include serious customers doing ecommerce business. You're better off working with someone who knows how to secure things without simply disabling critical functions.
