Adding/Deleting/Editing Categories

I've just installed Zen Cart and have their default categories and products, but am unable to delete or edit any existing categories or create any new ones. No error message comes up; it just doesn't do anything when I press delete, edit etc. I'm just a newbie so this could be something very basic that I've forgotten to do. Any ideas as to why this's (not) happening?

I would go to the docs folder and read what all the file / folder permissions are supposed to be set at (644, 755, etc.) and see if that takes cares of your problem. It sounds like a permissions issues to me.

The file manager I'm using doesn't show the permissions as 644 etc, it only gives me check box options "Read", "Write", "Execute"...

I've got all 3 options checked and it doesn't make a difference.

You do not want to make all the boxes checked as that will cause a security issue. Did you go back to the docs as I stated and set each permission separately as stated in the read me files?

Sorry, I don't know much about this, and the only way I know how to change the permissions is chmod via FTP... and that only gives me the check boxes "Read", "Write" and "Execute".

Can you please explain in more detail how I can set the permissions the way you're talking about?

I'm pretty sure that 777 = All boxes checked. 777 is what they want. All boxes checked is what I have. But still it doesn't work.

Thankyou! I understand it much better now. However now that I've changed the permissions, nothing's changed; I'm still not able to delete, edit or create new catergories...

Not quite sure on this one as of yet I will have to give it some more thought. And you do not see any errors or anything at the top of any of the screens? Do you also have a URL for the site in question for us to look at?

Nope, no errors or anything changed. It just goes straight back to the categories page, and nothing's happened.
