red flag Missing configure.php (Pls. help me!!!)

I've did a stupid thing today. Before making a backup, I've overwritten the configure.php on the server with a virgin configure.php from my PC!

    Very, very stupid!

But what can I do right now? Re-install? I've lost everything I've created in Zen-Cart?

    Please, please help and advice?

    Best regards,

    Angelo

Have you tried renaming the file dist-configure.php in includes/ and the same file in admin/includes and change the path and SSL settings if need be and re-upload just those files?

I may be wrong, but I do not think that the configure files do anything other than paths, SSL, and some minor database paths and cache should you should (hopefully) not have to re-install. Give it a shot and the worst that can happen is that you woudl have to copy your current files out of the way, re-install and copy the files back (but again you should not have to).

Good luck and may the force be with you

Idea or Suggestion Re: Missing configure.php (Pls. help me!!!)

Well, dist-configure.php wasn't really helping. What I figured out (yes, I'm not a very experienced Zen-Cart programmer), is dat configure.php only consists of (SQL)database name, locations, username and password. But as I said; I'm not expercienced enough to configure it myself manually.

After many f-words and almost into tears, I've contacted the appropriate provider of the website. In no more than one hour, they put back the configure.php file on the server! And is was an up-to-date configure.php. Only a few hours old!

The speed and service surprised me and afterwards I quickly made backups of everyting (files + database).

Yes, I was dumb! People, make backups!!! and make sure you've got a quality provider!

Glad to hear that you are back in business. Now that the fight or flight mode is over, you should still find the time to take a look at the proper (current) files and compare them to the ones you were trying to do. IMHO you should never waste an opportunity to learn something new. If you are planning on doing a lot of modifications in your zc site(s) I suggest you start getting your hands dirty real soon. These are relatively small and easy enough files to cut your teeth on.

We have all been there and that is why the zc community is the best. We all help each other out and some of us (like me) still make mistakes on elementary things (word of warning...do not work 10 hour days and then try and code at 2am).

Thanks for letting us know you have been taken care of.

    Sincerely,

    0be1

P.S. And yes, having a great provider can make all of the difference. Just be sure to give them lots of kudos so they know they did their job. I find it helpful to ask for a supervisors name and email and send in a nice note. Most techs work very hard and unappreciated.
