Google Checkout payment/order delay

I'm running 1.3.8 with Google checkout/Paypal payment and also Cheque payment.
I seem to be getting a few people going through the log in/add to cart and then dropping out.(Thanks Supertracker great MOD!)
I'm concerned that these people are thinking that the orders have gone through when they aren't.
Is there a "Delay" when people checkout through Google for theie first time. Does their account have to be verified etc or is it simply people are changing their minds at the final click?
I could email them but then I'd look unprofessional?

Looking at your site, it appears to the average person the only way to checkout is with Google. This is because the other checkout button "fades" into the background and is not a clear call to action.

As someone that doesn't have a Google account - I would, and just did, close my browser and leave when I got to the Google page.

I have altered the buttons for checking out so they are more prominent (They flash now)
I had another one last night that didn't come from on here so I have emailed her to see what happened.
