No add to cart when search by option selected

When viewing All Products, if I select a search option (priced low to high) the add to cart button with the qty option goes away.

Do I have an error somewhere or have I missed a setting some place to get ths button to show up?

Can't post a link to the site - as it is my client's site and in Down for Maintenance mode.

Forgive me - having a senior moment here!

The add to cart button DOES appear on products without attributes!

If product has attributes the option to add to cart is removed so customer must go to product listing to add to cart (so they are forced to select size).
