How to set up Quantity Discounts??

I have read tons of posts on quantity discounts, but they are for specific issues or a mod and have not been able to assist me thus far.

I sell tumbled stones. I want to be able to offer quantity discounts on many of those items. For instance 1-5 pieces would be $1.00, 6-10 pieces would be $0.90, 11-15 pieces $0.75, 16 -20 pieces $0.50

So how do I go about setting this up? is it part of the attributes or no? I thought I had set it up before, but I must of been mistaken cause for the life of me I do not remember....:)

Could someone point me in a direction or give me starter steps please? Thank you!!

Zen Cart has a built in quantity discounting which is useful if you want to discount bulk purchases of a single item. It is documented here:

There is a Quantity Discounts contribution which allow s you to group items by category (or by all items in the cart) and discount that way. It is documented here:

I've tried activating the bulk discounts, it was easy enough. When i go to the item in the store, as a shopper, the discounts show up, no problem.. but when i add the item to my cart and go to check out, the discount doesn't show up in the cart. it shows the items at their original price. Why?

If you're using my Quantity Discounts contribution, the discount doesn't show up until page 2 of checkout. It's a discount off the order total; the price is not changed in the cart.

That's really asinine! It's awfully confusing when you see a price at the bottom of the page that says one thing, but it's a different thing when it adds to your cart. Then it's a different thing when you check out. Any way to just get the discounted price in the cart?

I was just about to start a new thread to ask the same question. We're using swguy's Quantity Discounts and Quantity Discount Preview modules to offer across-the-board percentage discounts for customers who buy in bulk. Unfortunately, our customers keep calling us because they don't see the discounts being applied. We explain to them that they have to look at the bottom of the screen, but it's embarrassing that we have to keep apologizing to our customers for their poor checkout experience. More than that, I'm sure that there are lots of customers who aren't calling us, and I know it's costing us business.

Is there any known fix, hack, or workaround? Is there a better module that we should be using?

We need to be able to apply a bulk discount across the board, and we need to show these discounts being applied per line item in the shopping cart. It seems like this ought to be simple, but we're willing to pay for something custom if need be.

Please advise.

I installed your mod and I entered the categories to exclude as follows:

I tested products in the excluded categories above and they are showing in the discount on page 2 of checkout. Did I miss something?

The category is id the master_categories_id of your product. Be sure this field is set correctly in the products table. (If it's a linked product, it may not be what you think it is.)

Obviously, the ones with the MIX N MATCH are the ones I want to use your discount on. The balance to be excluded. I did not use link product at all so I think these category ids are good. Any other ideas?

You're looking at the wrong table. Products table, master_categories_id. Follow the link I posted; it's explained there.
