Although, i did follow the instructions to the DOT and my icon will not show.

I created the icon in Axialia IconWorkshop 6.1 and tried two different colour depths.

    16x16 256colour
    16x16 32Bit

Each time i called the file favicon.ico and uploaded it to the public_html folder.

What was the solution? The information may help someone else trying to do the same thing.

No idea what the OP's solution was but the easiest way I know to create a favicon:
    http://www.html-kit.com/favicon

"bigbadboy" yes an icon 16x16 named favicon.ico as described in one of the numerous links already provided.

But the favicon will not show the instant you add it to the root, as mentioned in my previous post.
