Default Where is Browser Padlock showing Secure

I just completed configuring Authorize.net AIM and the payment module works perfectly but while putting in my credit number I don't see the little security padlock icon down in the browser status bar that usually indicates I am on a secure site.

How can I be sure the transactions are secured?

I have added everything in the two configure.php files
    https://www.themainentree.com works
and I have confirmed my hosting company has loaded my
    SSL Certificate successfully.

    Thanks for the education

    Bob

With IE7 the lock shows up in the address bar, your site is secure... but your secure address is https://themainentree.com you didn't put the "www" in your request for your SSL Certificate.

Thanks for the help. I hear you say my site is secure and that's good. but I'm confused on my SSL. Since my SSL is in https://themainentree.com does that mean when customers go to www.themainentree.com and go shopping then they are NOT secure.

Sorry for the redundancy but my knowledge is weak here.

    Thanks

No, if someone goes to your http://www.themaintree.com site and clicks, say, on login, they'll end up on https://themaintree.com, fully secured.

The only problem comes when someone goes directly to https://www.themaintree.com (although I've never understood under what circumstances anyone would do that) they'll get a security certificate error message.
