copy attributes to mutiple products

Does anyone know how to copy attributes to mutiple products? It seems that you have to insert option name/value for each product.

I tried the option name manager, but it doesn't seem to work.

For example I want to copy the size attributes (might have 2 or 3 values) to all products.

Re: copy attributes to mutiple products

ADMIN PANEL>>>CATALOG>>>ATTRIBUTES CONTROLLER>>>

Select the product whose attributes you want to copy to other products.

When the product shows, you'll see a series of buttons, including:-

Copy to
PRODUCT

Copy to
CATEGORY

Re: copy attributes to mutiple products

This thread is sort-of what I am looking for but doesn't go far enough. I have figured out how to add each product individually and set it up with attributes, either manually or by copying from another product. But... let me explain what I need to do.

I have 437+ products to enter. There are subcategories under the Adult sizes. Each product has it's own set of sizes. Basically, there are three different attributes set-ups I want to choose from:

Kids Only - Sizes S,M,L,XL

Adults - Sizes S,M,L,XL,XXL,XXXL

Adults - Sizes M,L,XL,XXL,XXXL (no small adult size)

There is no color choice, just the sizes.

My questions are:

First, is there a way to mass-add the 437 products using the same basic setup I used to create the test entry? (Catalog > Categories/Products > Category > new product)

Second, is there a way to copy one of the above attributes sets to the products I select? The Kids Only category is simple enough. It's the Adult sizes that are giving me the problem. Each product may or may not have a size Small available, so I need to be able to assign an attributes set to a huge group WITHIN a subcategory.

Was I clear enough? This is driving me nuts. It took me days and days to set up a shopping cart using PayPal and JAlbum because I had to edit each and every html page that it created for each and every product. I don't want to have to go through that again.

If you need more information, please email me at [email protected] and if you like, I can call you (free long distance) if we need to discuss it to make it clearer.

Thanks for the help!

Re: copy attributes to mutiple products

If your Products are in the same Category that need the same attributes ... add the right attributes to 1 Product then copy the attributes to the Category of Products in the Attributes Controller ...

You will see a button for Copy to Product or Copy to Category of products ...

Re: copy attributes to mutiple products

NOTE: always backup your database ... before you make a mess of it ...

While getting use to these commands, you might do a backup to a new filename following each copy of attributes from 1 product to a category of products until you get a handle on doing this ...

The Easy Populate Mod is great for doing mass-uploads of products, from a tab-delimited spreadsheet.

See the WIKI.

Re: copy attributes to mutiple products

from Ajeh:

"If your Products are in the same Category that need the same attributes ... add the right attributes to 1 Product then copy the attributes to the Category of Products in the Attributes Controller ...

You will see a button for Copy to Product or Copy to Category of products ... "

As I said, the products I am working with are in Categories and then in Subcategories.

BUT... some of the products in each category have the extra size in them and some do not. So copying to a Category or Subcategory will NOT work. Not without having to go back and manually delete that attribute one by one. And that is what I am trying to avoid.

I will take a look at that EasyPopulate mod, fairestcape. Thank you.

Any further help?

Re: copy attributes to mutiple products

Wow! Just looked at that EasyPopulate page and at a glance, it looks hard. Good thing I have a smattering of knowledge about Excel or I'd be TOTALLY lost!

I will go over it in the next few days and let you know what happens.

Thanks!

Re: copy attributes to mutiple products

problem is that easypopulate does not seem to work for adding attributes.
I used the admin to add attributes of size for 1 product. I then download the attribute file from easypopulate. I add the attributes for the items and upload the file. I do not see any change at all. perhaps I am not doing it right. Anybody has used easypopulate to upload attributes successfully?

I have 16000 items in 1 category. How am I going to do it one by one in zen cart?

Re: copy attributes to mutiple products

Are all of the Attributes identical for the 16000 products?
