Using Zen Cart to manage real estate?

Hi,

My customer is an real estate agent and wants me to build him an online property showcase.

Zen Cart would be perfect for this task because it will allow him to maintain his inventory, add his own banners and ez pages, etc.

The only issue is, he needs custom fields such as "type of property", "location", "number of bedrooms", "number of reception rooms", etc.

He will also need to be able to search on these fields in zen cart.

How easy is it to add custom fields to a product and also add the same fields to the search facilities?

Fortunately you can do this. Unfortunately, there is not an already written and contributed module for this.

You will need a New Product type created for this with the relevant fields added.

Try looking at the admin > catalog > categories/products/new product

there you will see a drop box to select the product type > select product-Music to see how this differs.

Then in the FAQ's and the wiki there are guides as to how to write a new product type

I don't want to take away from Zen-Cart, but take a look at joomla.org There are several "Real Estate" Extensions already built.
