    application error Unable to Search Catalog from Admin Area

    Hi,

    My database is fairly large, with thousands of products. I'm unable to search my catalog from within the admin area.

    For example, if I go to Catalog > Categories/Products and type a SKU in the search box, nothing comes up.

    But on the front end, if I type the same SKU in the search box on the homepage, it finds the product almost immediately.

    It's very frustrating, because I need to be able to search the backend Catalog via the SKU to make adjustments ... and it won't find it. I'm having to go back to the front end, search for the product, look at the nav links and figure out which category it's in, then dig deep into the catalog structure in the backend and sometimes search through pages of products in a category (or subcategory).

    I've used phpMyadmin to repair the mySQL database, and I also ran the "optimize tables" option ... but if it were database issues, the search would be just as bad from the front end, right?

    What field in the products_table holds the SKU?

    Does it break or just not show anything?

    I have not been able to repeat the error ...

    What version of Zen Cart are you running?

    Any Add-ons in the Admin?

    Zen Cart 1.3.8a
    Database Patch Level: 1.3.8

    I've got the MagneticOne export tools installed, but I use those on all my other sites and don't have this problem.

    For example, at http://www.hppenterprises.com ...
    If you put this SKU in the search box, you get an immediate response:
    DBNVX-235W

    However, in /admin ...
    I go to Catalog > Categories/Products, paste DBNVX-235W in the search box, hit enter, and it searches, and the page results are:
    Categories / Products - Top
    Reset Search:
    Search Filter: DBNVX-235W
    Status - Disabled
    Go To:
    ID Categories / Products Model Price/Special/Sale Quantity Status Sort Action
    Categories: 0
    Products: 0

    HOWEVER, if I go to a different store (getskinsnow.com) and do the exact same thing (same contributions, same version of ZenCart), it immediatly finds the item in my catalog in the admin area.

    EDIT: the only thing I notice that is different, is that on the site where it WORKS ... even after searching, the SKU is still present in the search text box (and is also listed in the "Search Filter" field ... but on hppenterprises.com, once you hit enter to search, the search box is empty again, but the SKU is listed in the "Search Filter". area.

    Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com is your friend ...

    Take a peek at a clean Admin for Zen Cart v1.3.8 and a copy of your's ...

    Somewhere you have changed the search features with a much older method or cut something out ...

    I am having the EXACT same problem. I have one site that works fine, and another that the search comes up empty. I've duplicated everything I can think of from the good one to the one that don't work. Is there anything in Config, or Tools, that will allow this to search correctly?

    Peeking at your site it appears that many of /admin files are not current ...

    This would lead me to believe that there is an issue on old and new files conflicting and things cannot work correctly ...

    How did you do your upgrade to v1.3.8?
