Default Totally Lost-Which Method for Editing?

Hi, I have just had the zen cart uploaded..and now I am attempting to change the colour of the template and also add my own text, logo and pictures. Now, I am self taught, so have a little bit of knowledge but have built before using html and frontpage. The hosting company told me not to use frontpage or ftp to edit the pages. So now I am totally lost. With my last hosting company I had c-panel, which is reasonably easy to find the php files for editing directly on the server..but this one isn't. So now I am finding I am having to learn all over again, which is fine but I desperately need some pointers. I've read through the forums and you guys seem pretty helpful!!! I have looked at the tools define pages editor but that only allows you to add html as far as I can see. I wanted to add pics too. Hope I make sense!!

Zencart template files is in /includes/templates/your_template_folder/
Your can edit the colour through the css stylesheet. Default logo is in /includes/templates/your_template/images/

I think just download your templates, edit in your local computer then re-upload them. For the define page editor, you have to upload your image or host it somewhere, then write the link there.

It is strange that your webhosting not allowing FTP. *curious* how did you upload your zencart?

    I hope this helps you.

I assume you installed Zencart through Fantastico, or had your host install it.

nodesigns is right - the easiest way to edit Zencart files is to dowload them to your local computer using your FTP client, edit them in a good text editor, and upload them back to the server.

First, though, create your own template and override folders.

By using html, you CAN add pictures...

I do this on many of my sites:-

    www.edutrade.co.uk is but one example.

All those images are called using <img src="...."> tags.

Your hosting service must allow ftp to move files back and forth between your computer and your website. If you don't have an ftp client, SmartFTP and Filezilla are two good ones you can download from the net.

To edit the files, use a good text editor like Notepad++ or Crimson Editor.

This will all seem very complicated to you for a while, but you'll catch on.
