Default Shop stalling in admi part

    I am running zencart 1.37.
for some strange reason, the admi part of my shop is incredibly slow. server load is 0 and "check for updates" has been disabled.
the user seen part of the shop performs nicely.
however, as soon as i enter the admin area, things turn into a nightmare.
i checked the apache error logs and i cannot see anything obvious.

are there any parts in the shop which could potentially wait for something? say, same magic remote check which waits for a timeout?

do i have any chance to track this down? does anybody have similar problems? i have no idea how to fix this and how to track this down.

    advise is needed.

    many thanks,

    hans

Have you had this problem since day 1 of using Zen Cart?

If this problem just started, what did you change / add recently?

The only automated feature which could cause a timeout is the "check for updates" option, which you said is disabled. And that's only triggered on the home page and the Server Information page.

    Which pages are slow?

Is this Zen Cart site an upgrade? from which versions?
What addons have you installed? (both admin and storefront)

    What version of MySQL?
    Who is your hosting company?
