Here's the issue:
Some of my products are dual tax rated. Part book and part software. Zen Cart treats the products either wholly taxed or wholly untaxed (whether attributes used or not).
A solution to this is a Product Bundle mod (similar to the OSCommerce contribution) so that the two elements could be made into one product but their tax would be treated independently. For example: £100 product consisting of £50 book and £50 software. With tax at 17.5% on software only the tax inclusive price would be £108.75.
However, having searched the forums I see no such port to Zen Cart.
An alternative (but very messy) workaround is to create tax classes for the products concerned with rates adjusted to the proportion of the whole (8.75% in the above example). Apply this to the product and, hey, the correct tax is charged.
BUT the cart (at steps 2 and 3) shows multiple tax charges when other products are bought, e.g.
Sub-Total: £190.00
Store Pickup (Walk In): £ 0.00
Vat Zero £ 0.00
VAT @ 17.5%: £ 9.63
VAT Combined product A £ 4.50
VAT Combined product B £ 4.75
Total £208.88
I'm guessing that the customer emails will be the same - which is confusing for all and unusual.
So, can anyone advise where to alter Zen so that the checkout and customer emails show only the COMBINED tax charged - VAT £18.88 in above example. Obviously, the correct total tax needs to be transmitted to Paypal/Protx/Ceon card handler in the normal way.
Thanks
ZEN version 1.3.8a
