Description different between product listing and product pages

How would I be able to have different text description/information displayed in my Product Listing to that displayed on my Product Page?

You could also peek in the Downloads for Short Product Descriptions and see if this might be something along the lines of what you are looking to do ...

NOTE: Always be sure to backup both your database and site before making changes, installing add-ons etc. etc. etc.

To clarify my desire.
The format e.g. a formatted table, of a comprehensive description suitable for the Products Page is often not suitable for a short unformatted description that is all that is apropriate for the Product Listing.
Is there perhaps some other way of achieving my purpose?
Perhaps having a first line of fixed number of characters and defining the Product Listing text length to be just that number of characters.
Just throwing in some ideas to stimulate suggestions from the experts, and better illustrate my motivation/requirement.

Already part of the default install

admin > config > productlisting > Display Product Description > # of chracters

This, for product info page is not a table but is a div for "product description"

Did you have a look at the 3rd party module that was referenced?

I am wanting to copy Product descriptions from manufacturers websites to my Product Pages. These are often in the form of a table where an except of just a specific number of characters are not appropriate for the Product Listing.
Any ideas on how to have a Product Listing description that is more appropriate to a listing than the first x characters of the Product description?
As far as I could tell there is not a 3rd Party addon that provides this facility.
Which I would have thought would be a common requirement.
