Default Do I Need to Learn MySQL?

    Hi,

    I'm a real newbie here!

Do I need to learn MySQL in order to effectively set up and manage my client's Zen Cart?

I had a sub who did this for me:

    https://michael-von-krenner.com/zencart-1.3.x/

But he totally flaked out on me and now I'm stuck with trying to get this site finished and live!

No, you don't need to know MySQL. CSS and php would be more useful (especially the CSS). It's helpful to know some MySQL, but you can pick that up later.

That's good to know! I already know CSS quite well. PHP I'm not too up on, but I do have a good PHP person that I out-source to.

I really wish I could find a good Zen Cart person to out-source to!

That site is very nice. What needs to be done? It looks pretty complete to me except for products.

Don't give up on your post in Commercial Help Wanted. You just posted it today. You may get some responses yet.

Thanks for the compliment! I love the way that site looks.

Right now I need to do a test purchase to make sure that I've got PayPal set up correctly. And I'm not sure how to do that.

You pretend you are a customer and put something in your cart and go through the checkout. An item specifically set up for testing that is only a dollar is best.

I do hope your client is going to get a real merchant account, it would be much more credible to me as a customer.

Thanks Kim - I figured that it was something like that. I'll just insert a test item for one cent and then purchase that.

**removed personal info** If he ever gets one is it hard to add that later?

Adding new payment modules is usually pretty easy.

Aha - so it is just a matter of adding a new payment module? If so, that shouldn't be too difficult.

Right now I'm trying to figure out where I insert a new item. ~sigh~

This is good that I'm learning this, but I really wish that I didn't have to bother you folks for every little thing!

The tutorials/FAQ link at the top of the page should help as would ordering the book. :)
