Web Host does not support 1.3.8a. Comment please.

In checking that my hosts installed installation will be the latest version I received the following comment:-
"Please note that the install will be 1.3.7 as the 1.3.8 install of ZenCart is not compatible with our servers because of the security mode that we run our servers in."
As I do my development using 1.3.8a on a local Xampp installation I am concerned about the implications of this situation.
I would appreciate comments.

It would be helpful to know what "security mode" they're talking about.

Who's the host? I think they're blowing smoke.

There wasn't that much change in 1.3.8 over 1.3.7 to affect anything that is likely to be called a "security mode".

I'd be concerned as well and not in a good way.

As Zen Cart 1.3.8a does not use anything out of the ordinary I cannot see why it would not work. Sounds like the Hoster has gone a bit overboard; paranoid even, with regard to their Security settings.

If you cannot use the current version of Zen Cart, which has good security using common methods, it makes me wonder how many other scripts will not be able to used. And what will the Hoster do when v1.4.x comes out; which will based on v1.3.8a but even better.

Might be time to start looking into your list of backup Hosters as it could be time to move, and soon.
