    Default Help managing Attributes

I tried this over in the attributes forum and didn't get an answer, so I figured I would try over here in First Steps.

I'm currently building a site in ZenCart and so far I love it!

The attribute system is the only thing bothering me. I can see how it would work great if I were selling t-shirts or something, where I can make a size attribute and copy it to every product, but instead, I have a lot of products that need their own attributes. Is there any way to simplify things?

I work for a company that sells construction and surveying equipment. For one of our products, a data collector, there are 10 different versions of it, the only difference is the included software bundle and price. Do I really need a separate attribute with 10 different values for that one product, or is there an easier way to set something like that up that I'm just missing? I'm going to have to find a different option, I think, rather than sift through hundreds to thousands of attributes every time I want to add one to another product.

    Any help would be appreciated!

I can't, off the top of my head, see a solution to your question.

If the software bundles are the same, and add the same amount to the price, you'd be OK, but if each is unique, ...

Yea, each is unique with a different price.

It really doesn't seem like there's a good solution, but I'm experimenting with just making the product itself a category and each individual software bundle a product within it.

You might also look at the Easy Populate mod, if maintenance is the issue. I haven't used it, so I don't know if it works with attributes or not.
