Taking a CSS/xhtml Design and converting it to work with Zen Cart

I have a couple of PSDs which i have now sliced and coded and i want to convert them to templates for a few zencart stores.

I am relativly new to zencart having only done the admin area previously this is my first attempt at skinning the store.

1. Where are the best instructions for doing this (Links Please) - Preferably with ScreenShots

2. All relavent information you can give me, I have Photoshop CS and Dreamweaver MX and notepad


Alll help really appricated.

I don't think anyone can answer the question as you've asked it.

Zencart is mainly a dynamic PHP program, which creates the HTML on the fly. There are few static pages.

Zencart is mostly templated by inserting images in the proper places and editing the stylesheet(s). You can't (so far as I know) just take a PSD image and slice it up.

You'll also find that Dreamweaver is useful for Zencart only in text mode (or whatever it's called - I don't use DW). You're better off with a good FTP client and text editor (you'll find Notepad++ to be more useful than Notepad, although I use both).

Best advice I can offer is to check the available free templates at http://(sorry, site offline) and the examples in the 'showcase' at the top of this page, and try your hand at customizing your own. When you have problems or specific questions, come on back with a link to your site, and we'll see what we can do.
