    Default Limiting Search results

    I want to limit website search results to 20 per page maximum (with option buttons that allow prospect to continue to next page when more than 20 items are found). Is this something I can do from the Admin section?

    In your Admin,
    Configuration->Maximum Values->Search Results Per Page

    Set to whatever you want. If the search result returns more than what you set, there will be a next page arrow and page numbers at the bottom of the search results pages.

    I tried this. It does not work on the main site. It only appears to be for search requests within the Admin section. Am I wrong?

    This has nothing to do with your Admin settings. It ONLY effects your cart. You won't notice this particular effect in your cart unless you do a search in your cart and it returns a result greater than the amount you entered in Configuration.

    I'm really new at this, so please forgive me and my confusion.

    I'm talking about when a prospect uses the Search box on my web site. That is what I want to limit to say 20 items per page at a time. I tried what you said. It did not work on main website search box queires. Interstingly, it did work in the Admin section for setting up cross sells. I have 400+ items right now and making the change limited it to displaying 20 items at a time (something I did not want).

    Also, you also mention the "cart". When you say "cart", I think shopping cart. Is that what you are referring too?

    Yes, when I say cart, I am reffering to your Zencart web site which is a type of ecommerce shopping cart and is the part that the customer sees. Some people refer to it as their web site, others refer to it as their cart, some as their front end. I refer to it as the 'cart". The admin of course is what only You see.

    The adjustment I told you to make
    In your Admin,
    Code:
    Configuration->Maximum Values->Search Results Per Page
    is ONLY for your CART, NOT the ADMIN.

    However, since that does not seem to be working, try adjusting this to 20:
    Code:
    Configuration->Maximum Values->Products Listing- Number Per Page
    I just tried that on my site, and it worked. It also shows up to 20 products in the products listing pages as well, but for me, personally, I can live with that. Try it, and see how that works for you.

    That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

    [Soory, I'm new, so it will take me a bit to get used to the terminology.]
