    Default Template issues

    Hi all,
    First of all thanks for producing an amazing free open source product.

    Im a first time user, and I had a look through the FAQ however what was suggested either didnt apply to me or didnt seem to work.

    My Issue -
    After the installation I opened up my website and saw there was no real styling at all so I downloaded the zj_silver template.
    I have uploaded the zj_silver template in the appropriate spots as dictated by the directory structure in the download.
    I selected the template in the zen-cart admin panel under tools->template selection.
    I then clicked reset in the layout boxes controller.
    All this I took from the FAQ.

    Now when I refresh my page Im not seeing any styling/images, nor did I see anything straight after my base install.

    Hi and welcome to the Forum.

    Your problems are due to incorrect permissions for some directories. Depending upon whether your Hosting account is on a Windows or Linux Server, you will need to make sure permissions are corrected.

    You also need to remove this dir.
    /zen-cart/zc_install

    Thank you very much for your help, most appreciated.
    The template is up and looks great.

    Though I think I may have now screwed something else up. When I try and log in to the admin panel now I am getting a

    500 Server Error
    The web server encountered an error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. If this error persists, please contact the webmaster, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

    coming up.

    Could this have happened from the change in permissions?

    But
    a) I dont even know if thats what I am experiencing
    b) if it is, what does "the new security features need to be merged into your customized template files" mean exactly?

    Your Hosting account should provide you with access to your Error logs. Then you can see exactly what the 500 error is referring to. As to 'new security features' being merged to your Custom Template, it all depends on what files are used. If you created a Template using v1.3.8a files then no worries.
