need help with weird shadowing on link...

ok,

i have a live site and a test site. they both have the same stylesheet and header. but when i add a link to a menu bar, the test site looks fine, but the live site has weird shadowing around the link. i am stumped. i don't have the link on my live site because it doesn't look good.

i know it's not an easy question, but does anyone have a suggestion on how to find/debug what is causing the weird shadowing???

Update: Thanks for the replies. I had some leftover code for tab images that was interfering with the links. Thanks stevesh
