red flag Help needed - welcome email edit

    Can someone please help.

In the admin section i am looking to edit my email welcome email i can see it in tools but it does not say where i can edit it.

I thought it was in the define pages section but i may be wrong. I have edited the page before, when i first set things up.

The welcome email still sends but only in the text only format any info on returning it to sending HTML also would be a great help.

my other email templates send in HTML format and are OK.

I have recently had a major problem with a cpanel backup of my site, something i do not recommend and should never be depended upon for a completely fale safe way to back up your site.

any help would be muchly appreciated

    Thanks in advance.

    Try this,
Admin panel/ tools/ developers tool kit

search for the wording in a paragraph from the welcome email page. This will tell you which file to edit :)

This is a very handy tool to play with....

no luck, i even searched the email_welcome.php page and got zero results in every search box, it is like the file is missing even though i just tested it and the email went out but text only,

i am really happy with the wording i just need it to be HTML as it has links this is the bit i can not see how to fix when my other emails send as HTML eg orders email

i think i need to refer to my webmaster host

The welcome email text occurs during create_account ... so that'll be where the text is located if you're wanting to change the actual wording.

HTML-formatted emails are only sent if the customer has selected HTML format in their preferences, and if HTML mode is enabled in the admin.

Thanks for the info , is there a way to set the default selection to HTML as at the moment it comes up as default on the text selection on the sign up page.

Also at one point i was able to access the welcome email edit page in my admin i thought it was in the define page section, have you ever heard of this option? i am using the latest version of zencart.

The admin welcome-email page has never been editable.
I don't recall any addons that add that functionality.

    Thanks DrByte! text problem fixed

On the email welcome page, it is editable from the admin as i had to ad links to it when i first set up the website.

i believe it was available in my define pages section or coupon section, but since i had a site crash and had to do a cpanel reboot it has gone, do you have any info on how i would ad my email welcome page to my define pages section, so i can update the email in the future or is there a way i can put the email page into a HTML editor such as front page to edit and change links?

I was not happy with cpanel back up and now use handy backup auto backup software but have no idea if it is a good backup program till i need it to save me in the future, have you heard of it do you have any info on the best site backup practices, as i never want to go through the cpanel nightmare again, i nearly lost 12 months of very hard work with a wrong click from my mouse.

I really don't know what you're referring to.
All of Zen Cart's email content in v1.3.x and earlier is contained in language files, not in define pages.

Oh, and using MS Frontpage to edit anything related to a website is professional suicide. Frontpage messes up anything it touches.

    Thanks Dr Byte,

I will have to refer my question to the developers as i know you can edit the welcome email in the admin panel somewhere as i have the proof the edited email that i added banners and links to. Something i have no knowledge of trying to do in a off site code text editor.

I invite you to login to my site with a dummy account so you can recieve the welcome email which i edited in the admin panel, it may of been the coupon section as i said i am not 100% sure what section i edited it in. I can assure 100% i edited the welcome email page in the admin. Do you have any info on how i can get in touch with a zen developer.

Thanks once again for all your help so far.

red flag Re: Help needed - welcome email edit

The only customization i have done outside of what is supplied is change the template zen4me.com and added HTML FCKeditor 2.5.

Would it be possible that the new template gave me this feature the ability to edit the welcome email in the admin?

If so i may be able to regain that function if i reload the template fresh it may have been lost from the cpanel backup as i had all sorts of trouble.

What is your thinking on this could it be possible?

Is there going to be an update for all users that includes this feature as i know how useful it was to me, and would love to get it back.

by the way love the zencart!
