Using same paypal account on 2 sites (for Paypal IPN)

If we use paypal ipn method, we need to put the link to ipn_handler in paypal account.

But what if we use the same account on 2 sites?
I was helping countrycharm with a problem related to this setting, and mydanilo mentioned this setting works fine for him.

But I checked the file content and found out that it does update the order table etc, so it's rather obvious that this setting may not work well at all.

I hope a developer can explain this problem and let us know if this setting will work well

I'm not sure what "problem" you're referring to.

Zen Cart can happily use the same PayPal account on multiple sites ... because each store sends its own IPN URL for each transaction with the submitted transaction data, and then PayPal uses that submitted URL for all IPNs related to that transaction, regardless of what URL is entered in the merchant's PayPal Profile details. (But whatever is in their profile must point to a real working URL that will properly respond to IPNs, otherwise if PayPal sends any IPNs to that address and fails, it will deactivate IPN functionality altogether after enough failures.)

Okie, So I was not aware of the ability to create multiple profiles in Paypal and setting unique ipn link for each profile. If it works that way then no problem at all.

Yellow you dont create multiple profiles...
its all done with one profile...

You can take and put www.yahoo.com in the IPN url and www.google.com in the auto return URL

the correct IPN and auto return string is sent to paypal from each site in each order....

as long as IPN and return are turned ON

and you are using the same ( DEFAULT ) email address in all of them then it works with multiple stores just fine

NO. Put the full address to your ipn_main_handler.
