using images instead of text

hello im a little new at this i found some links on this but didn't really explain much. my question is . when your looking at the catagories it all text based links. is there a way of changing these to say a image of something.
example.
then when you click on this image it would take you to the right catagory.

Have you look at your admin?
When you setup your category you can add an image just like you want..
Admin-->Catalog-->Categories/Products

i added the Categories Dressing and this worked
for me. i didn't get your post before i tried this but i ll keep it in
mind for next adventure.

www.yourpagetest.com is the site im working on for a client.
i some what know php but there are so many files and so many different ways of changing things when all kinds of codes mixed.
ive learned alot of my php making this site www.callingallfreaks.com so far im having fun learning all sorts of new stuff. im self taught so i take my time and learn as much as possible .. but my A.D.D kicks in sometimes and get way ahead of myself and forget stuff.lol. well thanks for your help.

The category image you can add in admin will appear in the center of the page when you have a list of subcategories displayed, and also when you go to a category, and in the top of the page above the details of a product in the category.

It doesn't appear in the categories menu.
(The name of that image is available to the menu code, so it could be added with some custom coding if you wanted that image in the menu.)
