Boy am I stuck

Using hostgator for hosting, downloaded zencart to public file, started working on it, the next day a second zencart file showed up in a seperate file, How? meanwhile all my work dissappeared and reverted back to the zencart default.

This has happened 8 times, now again today, all my work is gone and defaulted back to the zencart default page, however my logo and a few pages are still there but all products are gone. I cannot keep going on this way what is the problem... The hosting company says not them???

Do they have you sharing a database with someone else? That or your sever is not secured and you are getting hacked ...

It is on a shared server, that is correct.

the passwords, and everthing else is not changed, just seems to go back to the default.

Is there someone that can set this up properly for a fee, I am wiped out

I have a zen cart with these people, everything works great.

Sometimes in shared hosting, a box has trouble and the host keeps reverting to a previous backup. Contact your web host and explain the problem.

I have also seen duplicate databases, and again, the host was having trouble with MySQL. Usually the problem goes away after the host fixes it.

I also use this Host and have never had this problem. Are you installing the Zen cart through your Cpanel or are you creating your databases and installing through FTP and your browser? Again never had this problem, with two cart up and running.
