Question regarding purpleshade template

Hi there, Just a general question regarding this template thats been installed we have managed to manipulate a few settings but there is a large amount of space after searching through the forum the only space people have mentioned is not really what we are having issues with :S

The columns arent under the links instead there is a vast amount of unused checkered space any ideas on how to get rid of this space or at least minimise it???????

Any help would soooo greatfully be appreciated have been trying to work this out for a few hours now the website is http://www.babymania.co.nz

Edited as changed to 3em and it worked perfect thanks again
