attribute for a custom option

I am starting another business for a printing based business where we sell printed items, ie tshirts etc. These can be a standard item or custoised with for example a name added.

i have an attribute to add £1 for the addition of a name but is there a way they can enter their name her as well to send on for checkout??

i can advice customers to enter their name on the comments on checkout, how ever if they aorder 10 items all with different names it could become confusing.

You can set up an attribute as text option.

i tried the text but there is no option to add extra money with text atribute is there.

maybe i could use 2 for the same thing. i e a radio button and text

If you made an Option Name: Added Name
Option Type: TEXT

Then added this to the Product in the Attributes Controller as:
Option Name: Added Name
Option Value: TEXT [RESERVED FOR TEXT/FILES ONLY ATTRIBUTES]

You could add the price to the attribute and the amount will only be included if this TEXT attribute is added to the Product when added to the shopping cart ...
