OK...I know this must seem like a silly question, but all through the tutorials, wiki, etc. we are told to go to (e.g.) admin/tools...or some similar place...but so far I can't figure out how to get there??
Here is what I have done so far.
1. I successfully installed zen cart on my system.
2. I included the sample store upload which I can successfully see at my website.
3. The location of my zen cart is simply: www.mywebspace.com/
4. If I try to go to www.mywebspace.com/admin I am taken not to the admin section of my zen cart, but rather to the admin section of my hosting company.
I have tried searching through these support forums for the answer...but without success and I realize that I must be missing something really basic here...but I AM MISSING it. So if someone could point me in the right direction I would be very appreciative.

www.mywebspace.com/admin should take you to your Zen Cart admin. Is www.mywebspace.com really your site? I'm not getting a Zen Cart there.

I get a certificate error when I try to go to the admin which is redirecting me to the website hosting admin. The error I got was that the certificate is issued in a different name (or something along those lines).

Yes...I am getting that too but I just assumed that was because I was being directed to the website hosting admin area rather than that was the CAUSE of my being directed there.
So apparently the problem is this certificate error. Any idea why I am getting that or how to get rid of it.

Sorry, no. Someone else may be able to chime in with a suggestion. In the meantime, try contacting your host and see if they have any idea.

Your hosting company uses your_domain.com/admin for its own control panel.
You'll need to rename your Zen Cart admin folder if you want to access it. See step 2 of this FAQ: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=73 or look in the /docs/ folder of your Zen Cart files.
Or you could try to get your hosting company to change their setup, or switch hosts. Renaming the admin folder is easier..
