Hello, sorry I dont know much about PHP versions but Ihave received this warning from my host and I dont know if there is anything I need to do or if my site will still work (V1.3.8). Have read up the post it all seems heartening but my lack of knowledge prompts me to seek reassurance.
PHP Update, Apache compilation and Kernel updates - This Week
As we have announced some months before on August 2008 was the end of life for PHP4 as the php developers has announced. There is a new php4 update and this will be the last one before we do remove php4 from our servers. For more information please check at:
http://www.php.net/archive/2008.php#id2008-08-07-1
We will keep php4 running in our servers as a secondary php version but for security reasons we will remove it after December this year.
On servers already running PHP5 as the only version we will update the PHP5 version to the last build.
If you continue running scripts with PHP4 version we highly recommend migrate it to PHP5 as soon as you can. PHP4 version will be available until the end of this year, after that will be removed from our servers and we will have only the PHP5 version running on them.
Additionally we will upgrade the Linux servers kernel to the last available one and re-compile Apache web server adding the following php5 modules requested by many clients:
PDO, PDO_MySQL, MySQLi, XSL
If you have any question feel free to open a support ticket through the Client Area.
Many thanks - especially if you can ease my worries.
Nick.
