need help with sub-category display

Please take a quick look at this URL to tell me why the subcategories are displaying in a vertical form in the center box. I have set 'categories to list per row' under 'configuration/maximum values' to 3 thinking this would change the display. I want the categories to display across the center box and thus eliminate all that annoying white space.

in your stylesheet.css

.centerBoxContents, .specialsListBoxContents, .categoryListBoxContents, .additionalImages, .centerBoxContentsSpecials, .centerBoxContentsAlsoPurch, .centerBoxContentsFeatured, .centerBoxContentsNew {
margin:1em 0;
float:left;
}

test your other pages as the float may cause unintentional changes...
