red flag UPS and USPS being blocked by host

I am using APLUS.net for my hosting, but they recently blocked all outgoing request sent from my site. I cant get shipping rates from anyone (UPS and USPS), so my customers can't proceed with the checkout. Aplus is no help, they just said to find the IP that UPS and USPS use for getting rates, then they would allow those IP's to pass through. UPS and USPS say they dont have a specific IP that it goes through, but multiple (and no one can tell me what the IP's are? Any help would be great

    The addresses are:
    USPS: http://production.shippingapis.com
    UPS: http://www.ups.com

Your host can look up the IP addresses, or better yet, map the names to the various IPs registered to those names.

I gave them the IP's that come up when I pinged those sites, but they said they need the ports as well? I am at my end here between them all! Does anyone know of a better hosting company that doesn't block outgoing request (then it wont matter what the IP is...because I really dont care) Thanks in advance!

What reason did they give you for blocking UPS and USPS?

    "http:" actually means port 80

If your host's ability to protect its servers is a blanket "turn off everything" approach, including all outbound communication, including a normal http request on the normal port 80, then they're running scared and paranoid ... and I would question their ability to serve your needs while running an ecommerce business.

They didn't, just said that they have made some changes recently and that they now block all outgoing requests, unless you specify which ones you need open. I had them open the ports I came up with after a gazillion hours between everyone...still no certain answer, but many guesses. Needless to say, the IP's they added arent the ones, or I have another problem? I'm sure it's the first option though.
