Bulk updates?

My wife's store is a Gift & Gourmet food store, and as such, a number of items are seasonal, and therefore always changing.

Is there a way to do a bulk insert of products & descriptions?

A friend of ours has a Yahoo store, where much of this can be managed thru a spreadsheet, but the only thing I've found is the one-at-a-time updates, which for me would be time prohibitive to use Zen cart, as I'd perpetually be doing single updates.

However, some vendors supply their catalogs in soft copy, which I can then strip out what I don't want, and include in a batch update. However, I haven't been able to figure out how (or if) that is possible thru Zen Cart.

Also, my copy of Zen cart has lots of ads on it. Is there a good tutorial for how to customize it?

Any help, direction, advice appreciated.
