Default What is "Tax Class" in Shipping Modules?

There is a "Tax Class" definition for all of the shipping modules, but what is it for? Our shipping shouldn't be taxed, so I should always leave this as "--none--", correct? In what case would I select something here? Thanks!

The Tax Class specifies which tax rules apply to it.
If you don't tax it ever, don't give it a tax class.

Is it even legal to ever tax shipping? I'm just trying to understand when it would be used.

Sure it is ... it's very common to charge taxes on shipping services in some countries ... even "required".
