Selling gift certificates

Hi im new to zen cart and have my site pretty much ready to go but have a question that will FINALLY get my site going if it is anwered so HELP PLEASE.

My question is is that i am selling gift certificates from local businesses to consumers but i am wondering if there is a plug in for zen cart that will insert the information from my products into a printable gift certificate for the consumer to download so that i wont have to manually create every gift cert. and uploade it to the product please help me this would make my life so much easier.

Yea this is really confusing selling gift certificates as products, that other forum is littered with questions about zen cart gift certs. But i just want to ask to be totally clear on my understanding of this.

I guess what i have to do is make gift certs. in photoshop or fireworks and leave a space for a manually gen. redemption code, email the code in the conformation and have the consumer write it on the gift cert. this doesn't seem like a very secure way to do this and i think selling alot of them is going to be very difficult to do thsi way but will until i figure something out

but i guess there isnt any way to creat some document and have the info from the product inputed into the document along with a gen. product code

i know its confusing and ive been trying to read as many threads as possible but maybe im just expecting zencart to do to much.

i guess what im trying to ask is if anyone knows of a way to automatically extract information from my products and input it into a pdf universal document used for all my products.

This would be more than ideal, and get my store up and going quickly

Use the Free Addons link at the top of this page and search for PDF. Should find something that might help.

okay so i have installed the pdf order center AND the super orders add ons and both turn out to not be what i need.

The pdfoc add on was sooo close to what i need. It is great that it can devolp the pdf from my database tables for a shipping slip for me to print. But i dont need to ship anything. lol It does give me hope tho that i can do what i need.

I need something that will allow me to send the info to the consumer in a pdf template as a gift certificate. I can change the templates in the pdfoc to what i need but i dont know how to get them to send to the buyer as a downloadable product.

Currently, there is no Zen Cart functionality for automatically generated printable gift certificates. Your only option is to have someone write you some custom code. If you post an ad in the Commercial Help Wanted area you can hire someone to do it. Make sure you hire a Zen Cart specialist as you want the changes that they make to be forward compatible with the next version of Zen Cart...
